Aurora, ON is home to Canada’s most monogamous people

If you’ve been given the romantic run around and just want something stable, it might be time to consider a move to Aurora, Ontario: a new study of 20,000 Canadians has revealed that the nation’s most monogamous people can be found in the city.

  • Overall, the Canadians most enthusiastic about monogamy are from Aurora, ON
  • Whitehorse, YT and Port Moody, BC take second and third place
  • Canada’s most monogamous men are from Port Moody, BC
  • The nation’s most monogamous women can be found in Stratford, ON

The study, which was conducted by premium dating site EliteSingles, used anonymous user data from 20,000 registered members to determine just how much Canadians prioritize monogamy.

The study looked at the extent to which the randomly selected participants agreed with the statement ‘I believe that monogamy is essential in a relationship.’ These scores were then averaged out by area, revealing the Canadian cities where people are the most likely to be mad for monogamy:

So what does this mean for Canadian singles looking for a monogamous relationship? EliteSingles’ in-house psychologist, Salama Marine, thinks it’s a promising sign: ”the study demonstrates that there are actually still plenty of people out there who do value monogamy and want to build a lasting and loving relationship.”

Salama goes on to say that, if you value monogamy, you shouldn’t be afraid to talk about it to your love interest ‘’the biggest sign of romantic incompatibility is if you and the person you’re seeing have different expectations from the relationship. It is therefore important to ask yourself whether you’re looking for something serious or casual, and to find out if your partner wants the same things. And, to avoid getting hurt, it’s best to have this conversation early on.’’

Of course, judging by the study, if you have this conversation in Aurora, Port Moody, or Stratford, you may already know the kind of relationship your partner is looking for!
